Almost 8,000 suicides a year: what's the reason and how to prevent suicides?
Every 40 seconds in the world, one person dies from suicide. We explain how you can help save lives
Last year, 7,654 people committed suicide in Ukraine. More people have died from suicide in the eastern regions of our country. According to the WHO, the number of people in the world who have shortened their lives alone already exceeds the number of those who died in war or violence. One person dies every 40 seconds.
Why do such statistics exist? How to understand that a person thinks about suicide? But how to prevent it? Learn about it in our material. And also find candid stories of Sofia, Andrii, Ivan, and Maksym, heroes who overcame suicidal moods.
Andrii:
"Such thoughts don't appear at one time; they accumulate under the influence of stress, anxiety, insomnia, constant nervous tension, and the inability to solve the fundamental problem here and now. It's a feeling of anxiety, which takes on more and more volume, and only fatigue and indifference remain with you. The root cause cannot be one: there are many reasons, strung like beads on a thread, and in the end, this thread is ready to break under its own weight. And thus, to end life."
