Flash mob to support Ukrainians under occupation, and passing the "Torch of Freedom" to Ukrainian women: five leading solutions this week
"Rubryka" makes a small digest of solutions, bringing the Ukrainian victory closer, every Saturday. Please, read and share what happened during this week in Ukraine:
- The "Yellow Ribbon" movement launched a flash mob in support of the residents of the occupied territories. The flash mob participants draw halves of hearts and take pictures with them against the background of their hometown and post the images on social media with the hashtag #ЄдинеСерцеУкраїни (i.e., the United Heart of Ukraine – ed.) and the tag @yellowribbonUA. Thousands of people supported the project in their posts and stories. Musicians, actors, athletes, opinion leaders, and even employees of the Ukrainian Antarctic station "Akademik Vernadskyi" took part in the flash mob.
- Serhii Zhadan, the famous Ukrainian singer and poet, sold the combat flags of the Ukrainian voluntary formation "Charter" with the signatures of the fighters for $2,100 each in New York at a staged auction. The funds will go to support Ukraine's defense forces.
- Olena Zelenska received the Forbes 30/50 "Torch of Freedom" Award. Hillary Clinton presented the award for contributing to the fight for women's rights at the Forbes international forum in the UAE. The first lady of Ukraine dedicated the award to all Ukrainian women.
- The UAE provided $100 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This happened immediately after the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the country. The aid is intended for residents of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
- The EU will send an additional 13,000 laptops, smartphones, and tablet computers to Ukraine in war-torn regions. Digital devices will be used to help provide basic services in education, health care, and public administration. This "Laptops for Ukraine" initiative was launched by the European Commission, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and DigitalEurope, a European organization representing the digital technology industry. Citizens are invited to donate functional devices through one of 17 collection points in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Spain, France, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia. In addition, new hubs for collecting equipment continue to open.
