The story of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny's arrest is to continue. Western countries are judging the Kremlin’s tough actions, and it's highly probable that new sanctions will soon be applied against Russia. Especially if in the coming weeks, his conditional sentence turns into a real one. This story, however, presents Ukraine with very interesting opportunities in a hard war on diplomatic fronts. And Kyiv has already outlined the first steps in this direction. How Europe and the United States can act, and what Ukraine can do, read further in a new Rubryka article.
Right now, Navalny is the most famous opponent of Vladimir Putin's regime, but hardly anyone could seriously call the until-recently Charité patient the leader of the Russian opposition; too controversial a figure. On the whole, his electoral weight on the scale of Russia raises serious doubts. However, if Navalny is someday destined to become the gravedigger of the regime, it happens only thanks to the "help" of the Kremlin and special services, trying to poison him, or putting on a genuine show with detention upon arrival from Germany.
Rubryka contacted Russian political analyst Olga Kurnosova, who explained that upon his return from Germany, the main Russian opposition figure was doomed to be arrested.
