Kyivoblgas solutions during war

War makes it challenging to perform any tasks. But Ukrainians have already shown that they know how to find the light even in the darkest of times. Thousands of soldiers, doctors, rescue workers, and energy workers do heroic deeds every day while doing their jobs. In this text, we talk about gas workers, who are also among the first to go to the de-occupied territories and restore gas networks even in the face of shelling.

JSC Kyivoblgas is a gas distribution company that serves clients of the Kyiv region. These are 915,000 domestic consumers of natural gas and 4,000 legal entities. The company is the champion in the country in terms of the total length of gas pipelines on their balance sheet and maintenance of more than 44,000 kilometers of the gas network. At the end of the year, we take stock and identify the three best company solutions.

TOP-1: Restoring networks in de-occupied territories

As soon as the Ukrainian Armed Forces freed the Kyiv region from the russian fascists, the gas workers immediately started restoration work. Thanks to the unity of the team and the help of colleagues from other areas, Kyivoblgas specialists quickly restored gas distribution to more than 120 settlements and 159,000 consumers.

For those gas consumers in Bucha, Fastiv, Vyshhorod, and Brovary districts, whose houses were destroyed or damaged by the russian invaders, Kyiv's leading gas maintenance company recalculated the cost of gas delivery services. Only in March-April, they carried out recalculation for 133,000 customers.

If a Kyivoblgas client sees after returning home that their home has been damaged, they must:

  • contact the 104.ua contact center by phone: (067) 44 49 104 or (044) 36 46 104;
  • indicate the personal account (if possible), address, describe the situation, and indicate the date of destruction in the message;
  • wait for the arrival of the gas workers, who will officially confirm the facts stated in the application;
  • get a recalculation or suspension of charges for the restoration of the building and the gas supply system.

TOP-2: Preparing for harshest winter

This is how we will remember this winter: constant blackouts, shelling that destroys the energy infrastructure, and the need to consume all available resources as rationally as possible. The gas workers of the Kyiv region did not just prepare for it the day before but have long been working on the resilience and safety of the gas networks they take care of.

Kyivoblgas completely abandoned the use of Soviet technologies back in 2014. The company also does not use components from russia and belarus.

The company installs Ukrainian-made gas control points with components from European partners RGCProduction. This reliable equipment allows them to stably maintain the pressure at a given level and reduces process gas consumption.

Also, Kyivoblgas has mobile laboratories — modern cars equipped with devices for determining the places of gas leaks. Such laboratories record the lowest gas concentration at a distance of 8 meters and a car speed of up to 40 km per hour. Sensors on the bumper analyze the air and detect the presence of methane. And the estimated place of pipe damage is recorded on the map, and the program notifies about it with a signal. This technology allows them to work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Another advantage for conditions where everything needs to be done quickly is using the Ravetti system. Thanks to it, Kyivoblgas gas workers repair gas pipelines without disconnecting subscribers from the natural gas supply, which would take additional time.

TOP-3: Emergency dispatch service "104" and dozens of new calls

Emergency dispatch service "104" is working normally. However, it was the 104 line workers who showed courage and heroism at the beginning of the hostilities. In the conditions of active hostilities, they worked out applications, repaired networks, cut off gas supplies, launched gas control units, and delivered medicines and products to the occupied territories.

Eight 104 employees received certificates from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine for their heroism. Another 27 employees were recognized in the company to support the spirit of unity of the team and to express gratitude to those thanks to whom the people of Kyiv and the residents of the region have gas under any conditions.

The gas emergency response unit 104 works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company's dispatch service has 44 teams: 140 highly qualified specialists processing up to 200 applications from customers per day. They process 60,000 applications annually

Did it work?

Answer in numbers

If you look at the results of the Kyivoblgas team in numbers, the result is impressive. In 2022, specialists managed to:

  • reconstruct 3,772 kilometers of gas distribution networks;
  • provide gas supply to 159,000 consumers in the de-occupied territories of the Kyiv region;
  • carry out the ringing of 110 meters of gas distribution networks;
  • replace 19 gas regulating and 58 gas control units;
  • build one gas control unit;
  • replace 263 combined house pressure regulators,
  • perform six measures using the "stop system" of the Italian company Ravetti — reconstruction and repair without disconnecting consumers from the gas supply.

Kyivoblgas provides a complete list of services for gasification, reconstruction, and technical and service maintenance of gas distribution networks and gas equipment. Personal managers advise in 104.ua client spaces. Every consumer can contact and get help in solving any gas issue: comparing gas meter readings, selecting gas equipment, ordering turnkey services — installing gas equipment, connecting to gas distribution networks, reconstruction, and transitioning to individual heating.

Among the advantages of Kyivoblgas complex services are the completion of all processes, expert support, quality materials, and up-to-date gas equipment that allows the client to save time and money. The company has been working with gas networks for over 65 years, so it knows how to do it qualitatively and reliably.

For reference: Every month from the 1st to the 5th date, the consumer records the actual readings of the gas meter and transmits them conveniently to the gas operator. In the Kyiv region, this is JSC Kyivoblgas. It is precisely on the timely transfer of data that the correct charges for gas depend. This can be done using online services:
