How the entire city composts, not burns grass and leaves: practices of Pereiaslav
Solving the problem of deadwood fires is easier than it seems
This spring is happening "with zest". Deadwood fires in 2020 have led to especially serious consequences. Deadwood burning is one of the major causes of fires in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. In the Zhytomyr region, large-scale fires destroyed several villages and have already affected peat deposits. On a smaller scale, deliberate burning of dry grass and leaves leads to fires at every turn.
So why do people continue to burn dry leaves and grass? Besides banal carelessness or criminal intent, some argue the need to get rid of the deadwood, which you can't drop anywhere. To solve this problem, Pereiaslav, a small town in the Kyiv region, began composting such waste at the citywide level.
