Olympic College in Kyiv closing: who needs a vast sports complex

The college for training Olympians is under discussion to join it with the university for preparing physical education teachers. According to the official version, they want to do it for optimizing, but the college does not agree with this thinking and considers such a decision a raid. What happened? Rubryka analyzed.

Recently, another scandal broke out in Kyiv. This time there was a fight between the Olympic College students and the reorganization commission headed by the National University of Physical Education rector, Yevhen Imas. The fight ended with the university head being spattered with flour by the university students and thrown in the trash. Ivan Piddubnyi Olympic College is an educational institution near the Lisova metro station in Kyiv. The total area is 16 hectares. There are several sports arenas, a swimming pool, dormitories, educational buildings, a rehabilitation center, stadiums, and courts.

The principal direction of the college's work is the preparation of a sports reserve for Ukrainian national teams in 14 sports. The school has trained and produced dozens of athletes who represent Ukraine in the international sports arena and have repeatedly won prizes.

Since 1992 and to this day, the college prepares junior specialists, and since 2016 specialists of the first (bachelor's) level in the specialty 017 "Physical Culture and Sports".

All this can cease to exist.
