"The police didn't ask us to provide these documents voluntarily, although they could get access anyway," the expo center says.
On April 13, searches were carried out in the apartment and office of Yevhen Mushkin, General Director of the National Expocentre of Ukraine. This became known from a post on Facebook, published by Yevhen: "I have a search in my apartment, Diana and the kids are in shock. The VDNH office and pavilions are being searched by the police and the SBU. I was forbidden to use the phone," he said.
On the Facebook page of the expo center, they reported investigators suspected the VDNH leadership, represented by Mushkin, of abuse of office and receiving a bribe for leasing state property.
"Last Friday, the Expocentre finally closed all tax liabilities to the state, which had been accumulating over 12 years, by paying about UAH 40 million to the State Treasury. Now the tax debt of VDNH is UAH 0. This was largely due to the successful management and in recent years, the key performance indicators of VDNH have improved," the post says.
Yevhen Mushkin himself mentioned this: "Last week I was sincerely happy that we finally closed the huge tax debt of VDNH to the state, which had been accumulating for many years," he wrote. The CEO even published a confirmation of his words, a certificate of no debt:
