Meet new-way hotels. 10 changes due to coronavirus
Special hotels for patients with COVID-19, falling (and rising!) prices, new privileges for guests are just some of them.
During the pandemic, most sectors of both the Ukrainian and world economies suffered a significant decline. According to the latest forecast of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ukraine's GDP in 2020 will decline by 5.5%, and we can reach the pre-crisis level only by the end of 2022.
One of the industries hit hardest was tourism, along with the hotel and restaurant sector. According to tourism experts, the coronavirus pandemic will hit the industry harder than the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the financial crisis of 2008. International tourism hasn't experienced such a sharp decline in its entire history since the mid-19th century, and only aviation losses from reducing the number of tourists amounted to 880 billion dollars. Rubryka explored what changed the Ukrainian and world hotel markets underwent, how hotels adapt to new realities, and how to win customers even during a pandemic.
