Are you afraid to speak English or Arabic? Nightmares of language learners and how to overcome them
Do you speak English? Can we talk? Are your palms already sweating? When learning foreign languages, we face a lot of problems. Among them are fears that we invent ourselves and from which we suffer. But when studying languages, we need to learn languages, not the limits of independence.
Rubryka collected the top fears that almost everyone who learns a foreign language faces. And the largest online platform, Preply, has helped find ways to get rid of these fears.
Fear 1: I'm afraid to start!
What is the problem? Apparently, in the beginning, we always feel insecure. Some are afraid to take up a new language for fear of looking ridiculous, and some are afraid to return to previously abandoned learning for fear of realizing that much has been forgotten.
"Just start" is not easy, although it is effective. So how do you start gradually and give yourself time to love the learning process?
What is the solution? Before you start studying dictionaries and doing exercises for Past Perfect, surround yourself with the language you are going to learn. Drink morning coffee listening to songs in the right language, if you are going to learn it from scratch or continue the already started and interrupted process. Find bloggers whose videos you enjoy watching, even without understanding half of what is being said or with subtitles. Watch your favorite movie in the language you are going to learn and make yourself feel that you like the way it sounds. And then start studying!
Does it really work? Yes! The preparatory process shouldn't be ignored. As soon as you realize that the language you need is smoothly intertwined in your life, choose a comfortable teaching method. At the start or when you've forgotten a lot, it is better to do it with a tutor. The teacher will help to make a plan, which can later be followed independently. And on Preply you will find the tutor!
