What's on paper, and what's in reality for people with disabilities? How Ukraine is fighting for equal opportunities
What should we do to reduce the number of barriers in society? Rubryka asked activists of "Dostupno UA"
Since 1992, on May 5, the world community has used the opportunity to discuss the rights of people with disabilities. Although a democratic society recognizes that absolutely all people are equal in their rights regardless of race, nationality, gender, religion, property, and health, people with disabilities are still discriminated against and prejudiced by society and the authorities.
Rubryka learned from Dostupno UA, a non-governmental organization that fights for inclusiveness and disseminates accessibility for the less mobile community in Ukraine, what successes our society has achieved in terms of the rights of people with disabilities and what we still need to work on.
