Almost eight years ago, the war in Ukraine began. More than 13,000 Ukrainians died because of it. More than a million lost their homes and had to leave the territories of the temporarily occupied Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea regions.
January 16 is the Day of Remembrance of Cyborgs, Defenders of Ukraine, who took part in the battles for Donetsk airport in 2014-2015. Another day when we pay tribute to those who defended and are defending our right to freedom. So today, Rubryka is once again telling stories of resistance that prove that this country will never give up.
Even though Ukrainians have been told for many years that the Russian people are our brothers and sisters, Russia is once again at war with us. When Ukraine found itself without full leadership after President Yanukovych fled in 2014, Russia withdrew its troops to Crimea and later to the east.
Referendum for the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the creation of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, denial of the presence of Russian troops in Ukraine, support and sponsorship of militants, and, of course, ignoring international agreements and as a result, constant violations of silence.
In short, Ukraine has an aggressive neighbor.
