Biden won, but Trump doesn’t leave: why White House battle is still ongoing in the US

The US citizens have finally learned who will be their president by 2024. Joe Biden and his team are already welcoming and electing ministers for the future government.

This election's know-how was a mass "postal vote": over 100 million Americans used it because of the coronavirus. Because of this, the ballots were counted longer. Donald Trump has declared the election rigged, doesn't recognize Biden's victory, and doesn't want to leave the White House. We explain why the US elections are still ongoing, and who will occupy the White House.

Joe Biden de facto won, but Donald Trump doesn't admit it

The new US president won't be officially elected until January 6, when Congress approves the election results. However, leading American media, such as Fox News, CNN, Associated Press, and Politico, unanimously confirmed that the Democrat confidently bypassed Trump.

As of November 17, Joe Biden has won in 24 states and in the capital, giving him 290 votes. The result is also a record one because 78 million Americans voted for a politician: more than Barack Obama received in 2012. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has the support of 232 voters.

But Joe Biden's team has not yet managed to feel the victory. As early as November 4, events in the United States began to resemble a modified version of the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. The candidate, Donald Trump, estimated that he won the election by a long shot, but they were allegedly "rigged." He doesn't recognize the results and requires recalculation. "I WON THE ELECTION," the president continues writing on Twitter (in capital letters).

As it turned out, it's not just words, since Donald Trump actually sabotaged the opponent's team. The White House, for instance, still doesn't share daily intelligence briefings on the world situation, threats, and the course of the COVID-19 epidemic with Joe Biden (as previous presidents brought successors up to date).

"More people could die if we don't coordinate our efforts," the Democrat said outraged, adding that his team couldn't plan to fight the virus and economic crisis, and would be less prepared for these challenges in January. Meanwhile, Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is talking about transitioning... to Trump's second term.

The US General Service stubbornly refuses to recognize the outcome of the election, blocking the transfer of power to Biden. And the president has already changed the head of the Pentagon, announced a tender for oil production in the protected area of Alaska (!), and wants to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, and almost imposed new sanctions against Iran. "He is deliberately complicating Biden's life," Trump's critics said.
