On May 8, the air defense of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 5 unmanned aerial vehicles: 4 Orlan-10 UAVs, 1 Forpost UAV, and 3 cruise missiles. Two more Orlan-10s were destroyed by anti-aircraft missile units of the Land Forces. In total, 10 air targets!

In the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Ukraine's defenders successfully repulsed 6 enemy attacks and destroyed 20 tanks, one artillery system, 28 units of armored combat vehicles, one special armored vehicle, and 5 units of enemy motor vehicles.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our soldiers destroyed: 1 tank, 3 122 mm D-30 howitzers, and 5 armored combat vehicles.

"We are fighting for the freedom of our children, and thus we will win. We will never forget what our ancestors did in World War II, which killed more than eight million Ukrainians. And very soon Ukraine will have two Victory Days. And someone will have none," said Volodymyr Zelensky in his address on the occasion of the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II.

Humanitarian corridors

Little Alisa from Azovstal, whom the entire world learned about, is already in the territory controlled by Ukraine. There will be no evacuation from the Luhansk region today! The russians began shelling the "road of life" on the Lysychansk-Bakhmut route, so the passage is dangerous. Donetsk and Luhansk regions

Morning report from Serhii Haidai, head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration:

• 11 people who were hiding in the basement in Shypilove stopped responding. Fire brigades conducted a rescue operation as far as the security situation allowed. However, the russians do not stop firing on the peaceful homes of our residents. It is impossible to completely dismantle the blockages in Bilohorivka or Shypilove.
• On May 8, they targeted the population of the Luhansk region 24 times. A woman died in Sievierodonetsk. Two Zakarpattia volunteers died in Bilohorivka. Among the victims in Bilohorivka, of course, are children. Like the wounded child from Pryvillia, they were hospitalized in Dnipro.
• The enemy continues to destroy industry and critical infrastructure. In the evening they hit the oil refinery for the third time with shells.
• And during the day, the russians destroyed the capacity of the Popasna Vodokanal water supply company, which was still functioning. Now there will be no water in the cities and villages controlled by the Government of Ukraine, nor in those occupied in 2014.

In the Donetsk region, the russians fired on 15 settlements during the day. At least 31 civilian facilities were destroyed: residential buildings, a medical facility, a poultry farm, industrial enterprises, and live support enterprises.

The russian military is trying to "cut off" the Luhansk region from Ukraine by taking control of the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway, the head of the Regional Military Administration Haidai said. According to him, the Ukrainian side imports humanitarian aid and evacuates people.

Sumy region

ruscists bombed a Jewish cemetery in the Sumy region. The shell flew to the cemetery in the Hlukhiv community of the Shostka district.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The enemy struck again in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At night, the russians fired on the Zelenodolsk community again. They hit the outskirts of the village of Velyka Kostromka. Several streets were left without electricity, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Valentyn Reznichenko said. People were not injured.

Zaporizhzhia region

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers are removing Ukrainian symbols from buildings.

In Melitopol, the occupiers have already officially announced that on May 9 they are holding an "Immortal Regiment" rally. The military-civil administration has already warned all residents of Melitopol that on this day thatraffic in the city center is prohibited. The "event" will be attended by the russian national guard and the military contract servicemen.

Kherson region

Kherson residents are courageous, indomitable, and unconquered. Every night Ukrainian flags and ribbons with Ukrainian symbols appear in the city. Today a Kherson is Ukraine billboard appeared in one of the districts of the city.

Today, May 9, the russian military plans to hold events with artists and viewers from Crimea. But Kherson residents will also go to a pro-Ukrainian peaceful rally to show the world once again that Kherson is Ukraine.
