Timeline of war: day 197 of russia’s war in Ukraine

Key events

Ukrainian army's successes

📌 During the 24 hours, the Ukrainian military repelled 11 attacks by the occupiers and struck russian strongholds and concentration points 14 times. The occupiers lost about 70 soldiers only near Hola Prystan in the Kherson region.

📌 The russian army lost more than 2,000 people: about 640 killed, 350 captured, and more than 1,000 seriously wounded. Thirty-seven units of artillery and a massive amount of equipment were seized. It is a complete record of the entire time of the war.

📌 Tonight, it was loud near the Daryivka bridge in the Kherson region. Locals counted about ten explosions. The Ukrainian forces destroyed the occupiers' pontoon crossing near the bridge, one of the most important routes between the southern and northern sectors of the russian presence along the Dnieper. Now it is gone.

📌 Ukraine intends to de-occupy Kherson by the end of 2022. The US states that the  Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfully attacked the occupiers' supply lines to cut off and isolate the russian military currently stationed in the south, west of the Dnieper.

📌 The Ukrainian forces broke through the defense deep into the russian-occupied territory north of Izium, towards Kupiansk, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports.

It is confirmed by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksii Hromov: "In the course of actions in the Kharkiv direction, more than 20 settlements were liberated. The Ukrainian forces wedged into the enemy's defense to a depth of up to 50 km. Filtering operations are currently underway in several settlements."

📌 The Ukrainian military advanced in the Donetsk region and liberated the village of Ozerne from the russian military. In the Kramatorsk direction, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine improved their tactical position and advanced to a depth of 2 km.

😄 Lend-Lease hasn't started, and russia is asking for the UN Security Council meeting on September 8 regarding Western weapons supply to Ukraine.

📌 The Resistance Movement is also working. A "United Russia" party representative office that made preparations for the "referendum" was blown up on Lomonosova street in the occupied Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region. Also, in Melitopol, an explosion sounded next to the headquarters of the pro-russian movement and near the house of the russia-appointed "director" of the water company, Yurii Onyshchuk

📌 And the best news for today is the Ukrainian flag over the administration in Balaklia! Our flag is also in Volokhiv Yar (Kharkiv region).

russia's attacks

📌 The left bank of occupied Mariupol today: ruins and destroyed houses. The russians destroyed entire blocks of the district, which had flourished and developed.

📌 In Bakhmut, Donetsk region, the enemy hit the Martynov Palace of Culture; the humanitarian headquarters was located there. Two people died in Bakhmut and Niu York, and another four were injured. A sports complex was damaged in Soledar.

📌 In total, the enemy launched more than ten missile strikes and 22 air strikes on objects on the territory of Ukraine in the last 24 hours.

📌 During six months of the war, russia fired about 7 million shells through Ukraine.

📌 putin officials control the filtering of Ukrainians and illegally deported up to 1.6 million citizens. The US Permanent Representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, expressed confidence in this.

📌 The occupiers take Melitopol residents to Moscow and "sentence" them to life imprisonment. According to the city mayor, Ivan Fedorov, since the capture of Melitopol, the ruscists have captured more than 500 people.

📌 From the occupied territories, the russians are launching missiles at Ukraine. Several loud explosions rang out in Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region around 3 p.m. A fragment of a rocket fell on the house. Apartments are destroyed from the first to the fourth floor. There are victims.

📌 Another tragedy happened in Mariupol. The occupation authorities sent civilians to clear the workshops of the Ilyich plant without demining. The bottom line is that people blew themselves up on landmines. Four residents of Mariupol are currently in critical condition in the hospital.

Solutions for victory

Partners' support

💡 Ukraine received Harpoon missiles on a car platform from the West. Harpoon is an American anti-ship cruise missile, one of the most common in the world.

💡 Today, the Pentagon announced a new military aid package to Ukraine. These are military vehicles, HIMARS missiles, Humvees missiles, and artificial intelligence systems worth $675 million.

💡 A plane with military aid for Ukraine took off from Spain. Ammunition for large-caliber field artillery is on board.

💡 Norway will transfer 160 Hellfire missiles and night vision devices to Ukraine.

💡 The UN group to establish the circumstances of the shelling of the pre-trial detention center in Olenivka will go to Donbas in the coming days, it was reported at the meeting of the UN Security Council regarding Ukraine.

💡 Former Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi said he would like to be a mediator in the peace talks between Ukraine and russia with former Chancellor Merkel. Previously, Berlusconi was considered a friend of Putin, but since russia's invasion of Ukraine began, he has condemned the war.

💡 Rafael Grossi offered Ukraine and russia to conclude an agreement that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant cannot be attacked. We wonder when the UN will understand that no agreements with russia are working.

💡 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken suddenly came to Kyiv. His visit was not announced. He is to announce the allocation of 2 billion dollars as long-term foreign military financing to Ukraine and 18 countries for defense. This assistance is in addition to $675 million in direct support for the supply of arms to Ukraine.

Blinken also visited children affected by the war in the Okhmatdyt hospital. There he met the deminer dog Patron and even gave him a toy.

💡 The Czech charity foundation Children of Ukraine will donate computers and stationery to schools in the Chernihiv Region.

💡 The Program of Social Integration of Ukrainian Refugees was presented in the Polish city of Olsztyn. It became operational on September 6, 2022.

💡Europe is not happy to see the russians. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland have closed entry for russian citizens, including those with Schengen visas issued in other countries, since September 19.

💡 In addition, the Saeima of Latvia adopted a law on the independence of the Latvian Orthodox Church from the russian Orthodox Church. One hundred eighteen parishes are now independent.

💡 Hungary withdrew its request to the EU to lift sanctions against russian oligarchs. Orban failed to threaten to block the extension of sanctions against russia.

Ukrainians, unite!

💡 The first mobile shelter is being built in Odesa. It will be located in one of the city parks. The walls are more than 25 centimeters thick, the ceiling is more than 40 centimeters, and the entire structure is reinforced concrete. The design weighs 70 tons and can be disassembled and moved to another location. It can accommodate 18 people, and there will also be room for baby carriages. SafePlace4UA plans to create a sufficient number of mobile shelters for Odesa and Mykolaiv and then scale the project to the entire country.

💡 In Ivano-Frankivsk, volunteers earned UAH 35,000 at the Lastivka garage sale charity fair. The money has already been transferred to the writer Serhii Zhadan, who buys cars for Ukrainian defenders.

💡 Since the beginning of the "grain agreement," more than a hundred ships have left the ports of the Odesa region, using which more than two million tons of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine.

💡 The Braity charity project raised 20 million hryvnias in ATB stores during the month to rehabilitate injured children.

💡 Activists of the Yellow Ribbon movement continue to work in Kherson—at the cost of their safety and freedom. The occupiers will definitely not succeed in the "referendum"!
