Timeline: day 106 of Ukraine’s defense against russia’s aggression

Today is June 9. russia's military attack on Ukraine has been going on for 106 days. We're reporting on the current news. The article will be updated.

What about today?

Key points

The situation at the front remains complicated. But as you can see in the last couple of days, the russian troops' pace of advance has slowed. Despite russia preserving the full numerical advantage in artillery, we increasingly hear that Ukrainian artillerymen slightly calmed the enemy. There is no balance of power yet, but the ruscists are already suffering significant losses from new defense elements, which didn't exist before the escalation. No matter how hard the enemy tried, they couldn't be counted.

The city of Sievierodonetsk is now the biggest flashpoint; to take the town under complete control, the enemy doesn't spare equipment and people, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully counter the invaders. The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Motuzianyk, announced this at a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.

During the day, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed seven enemy attacks and deprived the russian army of:

  • three tanks;
  • two armored combat vehicles;
  • four units of automotive equipment.

During the day, Ukraine's Air Force combat aircraft destroyed:

  • ten armored combat vehicles;
  • about 20 occupiers;
  • nine Orlan-10 UAV.

Our army aircraft struck two strikes on a russian grouping and one of their bases in the Kherson region. Enemy losses are:

  • two armored vehicles,
  • four units of automotive equipment,
  • Three field ammunition depots.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to work for victory!

In the morning report of June 9, Ukraine's General Staff called even more impressive figures: the Ukrainian army units destroyed the 15th separate motorized infantry brigade of russia's central military district, which took part in hostilities. Of the 1,800 service members of the regiment, 800 were killed, and another 400 were injured.

If the pace of supplies becomes adequate, the russian army will begin to end even faster.

Who's coming to Ukraine?

On financial and information aid, weapons and politicians

Ukraine has received $1 billion in aid from the United States under a $40 billion package previously approved by Biden, US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink said. Another $7.5 billion will come to Ukraine soon.

Poland sent Ukraine over 240 tanks and almost 100 armored vehicles in turn. "We sent a total of $2 billion worth of weapons," Duda said in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. He also stressed that this package of weapons was a large part of the armament of the Polish army. "These were not stocks that we had in reserve. We handed over our tanks and armored vehicles," the Polish president concluded.

Sir Paul McCartney repainted his guitar:

Polish President Andrzej Duda sees no reason to negotiate with russian president putin. He said this in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. Duda believes that Western leaders are wasting their time. "I'm impressed by all the negotiations that are currently going on with putin. Chancellor Scholz, President Emmanuel Macron. These talks are useless. What are they doing? They are only legitimizing the person responsible for the crimes committed by the russian army in Ukraine."

What's in russia?

The russian military is conducting exercises in the Black Sea and working out its combat resistance if Ukraine uses anti-ship missiles and aircraft against it. Their "combat resilience" is on the brink. Exercises will not help them.

Sanctions on the aggressor!

Volkswagen offered its 200 employees in Nizhny Novgorod, russia, to resign voluntarily, receiving up to six salaries.

A manufacturer of machines, the Japanese corporation DMG Mori Seiki has completely gone out of business in russia, laying off about 270 workers.

Life considering hostilities

Ukrainians who have begun to rebuild their homes destroyed by the russian occupiers are being reimbursed. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this. "Now, we will focus on speeding up the recording of losses so that everyone who makes repairs at their own expense understands that the state will reimburse the costs as soon as our Western partners hand over the seized and confiscated russian assets to Ukraine," he said.

Kyiv and the region

An "embroidered" flower bed appeared in Kyiv's Obolon. Very nice!

The Kyiv region is recovering after russia's invasion, not only at the expense of the capital's flower beds. In the Kyiv region, 22 of the 24 bridges damaged by the occupiers have already been repaired.

Eco-houses with solar panels will become temporary housing in Bucha. The Bucha City Council reports. With the support of investors, the apartments will be equipped within two weeks. In the Zhytomyr region, the SBU detained a russian agent who was passing intelligence on Ukrainian defenders. Forces of the Armed Forces moved through the village where the agent lived and beat out the enemy, which is why this information was necessary for russian intelligence. The woman expressed a pro-Russian position on social media, for which the russians recruited her under the pseudonym "Victory." the woman faced from 15 years in prison to life imprisonment.

Donetsk and Luhansk regions

In the Luhansk region in Sievierodonetsk, russian troops again fired on the territory of the Azot plant. At least two shops were damaged. One of them is an ammonia production plant.

It is what the Luhansk region the russian army is trying to "liberate" looks like. Last night, the enemy fired on the area again, destroying infrastructure and taking the lives of civilians. A woman died as a result of artillery shelling in Lysychansk. Her daughter was injured, the head of the region, Serhii Haidai, said.

  • In the village of Elitne, a tractor driver was injured after a russian mine exploded in a field. It reminds us of the importance of cooperation with SES sappers and the military in agricultural work.
  • Fighting continues in the region. In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy is focused on defense and passing approaches. In the Izium area, orcs are preparing another attempt to attack Sloviansk and Barvinkove. But our military is ready to repel all attacks, Sinehubov assures.

Tonight the orcs targeted another "military facility" in Bavaria. It is what the school looks like now after the strike:

Sumy region

The enemy fired on the Sumy region again. The head of Sumy regional military administration, Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, said. Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the situation is alarming. The enemy fired again at the Kryvyi Rih district. He struck the Zelenodolsk community five times with artillery. In Velyka Kostromka, there is the destruction of houses. Fortunately, people were not injured, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Valentyn Reznichenko, said.

Kherson region

The invaders plan to divide the harvest in the proportion of 70/30, planning to take away most of it. Residents of the Novovorontsovka community reported it. No people are willing to go out on the field in such conditions.

In addition, in the territory of Novovorontsovka, the enemy continues to shell the village of Osokorivka, and there are strikes at the town resulting in damaged private estates, water supply, and power lines. But if the latter can be repaired, there's no drinking water in the village for three days. And it is impossible to restore the water supply due to constant shelling.
