Timeline: day 104 of Ukraine’s defense against russia’s aggression

Today is June 7. russia's military attack on Ukraine has been going on for 104 days. We're reporting on the current news. The article will be updated.

What about today?

Key points

It seems that russia's war in Ukraine has been going on for an eternity. Daily air raid sirens and reports from the fronts are becoming commonplace. Millions of refugees and people in the occupation face exhausting challenges that haven't been seen in a peaceful life, and doctors and volunteers are burning out. In this situation, the main thing is "not to get tired" because that's what the enemy is counting on. "There are only two forces in the world: the sword and the spirit. The spirit always wins over the sword in the long run," the Ukrainian Navy said.

Our soldiers bring Ukraine closer to Victory every day as we also have "swords." Ukrainian helicopters struck at clusters of enemy forces in the Kherson region, and planes fired at ammunition depots in the Mykolaiv region. The enemy lost more than 20 people and up to 10 units of military equipment, Ukraine's General Staff said in a morning statement.

Ukrainian Joint Forces defenders repulsed ten enemy attacks in one day. Fighting is still going on at two locations. The Joint Forces service members destroyed:

  • one tank;
  • three artillery systems;
  • two armored combat vehicles;
  • one motor vehicle;
  • two ammunition warehouses.

Air defense units shot down two Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles in the skies of the Ukrainian Donbas.

During the past 24 hours, in the Zaporizhzhia direction, our soldiers destroyed:

  • 14 soldiers, eight wounded;
  • five Grad multiple rocket launchers;
  • two armored combat vehicles;
  • four automotive equipment;
  • one Orlan 10 UAV.

One tank and an armored combat vehicle were seized.

For the West not to "get tired" of the war, not to diminish the attention to Ukraine and our struggle for freedom, "everyone should continue to talk about what's happening. Distribute information. Support our needs. The more is said about Ukraine in the world, the sooner we'll be able to end the war and liberate our land," said President Zelensky in his daily address.

Who's coming to Ukraine?

On financial and information aid, weapons and politicians

The Ukrainian military received Pinzgauer armored vehicles. They were bought anonymously with partners by a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman with the call sign "Hora." Two ATVs are already serving in the combat brigades of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and six more have been sent to other types of troops. Pinzgauer 2009 is a multi-purpose military jeep that can work as tractors, medical vehicles, deep reconnaissance, support vehicles, and communication vehicles. One vehicle saves dozens of lives!

Britain provides lawyers and police to Ukraine to support the investigation of russian war crimes. The British government has allocated a package of assistance to investigate the occupiers' crimes in Ukraine, British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab said. What's in the new support package:

  • work of a special officer of the British police, seven lawyers with extensive experience in international criminal law, two police officers;
  • constant analysis of defense and monitoring of events in Ukraine;
  • conducting war crimes investigation training for the Ukrainian police;
  • providing forensic and technical capabilities for investigation, including biometrics and digital device expertise.

Greece will hand over about 100 IFV-1 units to Ukraine when the German Marder infantry fighting vehicles promised by Germany arrive in Greece. A spokesman for the Greek government stated this. The reason for this position is the conflict between Greece and Turkey. Ankara, in particular, is infringing on some Greek islands. Therefore, the Armed Forces are in a state of combat readiness. In May, Athens announced that it would supply arms to Ukraine only if Germany replaced it immediately.

Assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons

The Polish supermarket chain Biedronka has issued cards for free purchases in its stores, which Ukrainian refugees can obtain.

Boris Johnson stays with us! He remains prime minister. The no-confidence vote didn't pass.

What's in russia?

Journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, who staged an anti-war rally on russia's Perviy Kanal Channel and wasn't very well received in Ukraine, decided to change her name. "I'm not a 'good russian,' I'm Ukrainian. As a sign of support for Ukraine, I intend to change my surname Ovsyannikova to my native surname Tkachuk," she wrote on Facebook. Does she really think it's about her last name?

Sanctions on the aggressor!

Japan will impose a new sanctions package against russia and Belarus. The country's Foreign Ministry reported. It is known that the sanctions list includes Rosselkhozbank, the Moscow Credit Bank, and the Belarusian Development and Reconstruction Bank. In addition, Japan will impose a ban on exports of goods that will help strengthen the industrial infrastructure in russia.

Life considering hostilities

Ukraine's Ministry of Health has made available reports on humanitarian aid distribution. You can now check how the Ministry of Health distributes humanitarian aid from Ukrainian and international organizations and governments on the new dashboard. The data on the dashboard is updated every hour. There's information available on how much cargo is delivered to the regions and what kind of help it is: medicines, equipment, ambulances, consumables, and personal protective equipment.

Kyiv and the region

One hundred sixty bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers from Azovstal, which were exchanged for 160 russian corpses, have already been delivered to Kyiv. Fifty-two of them are the bodies of Azov Regiment fighters, the Association of Defenders of Azovstal Defenders reports. The affiliation of other bodies to different units is currently being established. Forensic experts note that work to determine an alliance can take up to three months.

Donetsk and Luhansk regions

Ukraine's General Staff said the enemy had focused its primary efforts on Donbas in the morning report.

  • In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy continues to attack Izium and Sloviansk.
  • The enemy continues to storm the city of Sievierodonetsk, and fighting continues. Our soldiers inflict losses on the enemy.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repulsed the enemy's offensive in the direction of the settlements of Nahirne, Berestove, Krynychne, and Rota.

Propaganda, first, people will wait. The occupiers are filming joyful stories about how 300 Mariupol residents received humanitarian aid from St. Petersburg. As many as 300! That is, 0.25% of the current population.

The Mariupol City Council reminds the ruscists that more than 120,000 people are now in Mariupol. They lack food and drinking water. And it is the invaders who are fully responsible for the occupied and destroyed city.

Chernihiv region

Chernihiv rescuers are looking for volunteers. This person requires a medical certificate and training at the Training and Methodological Center for the Chernihiv region's Civil Protection and Life Safety. Those interested should contact the Department of Emergencies and Civil Protection of the Chernihiv City Council at the e-mail address: ns@chernsgiv-rada.gov.ua, pre-filling the questionnaire (you can find it on the website).

Kharkiv region

On the morning of June 7, russian invaders once again shelled Kharkiv. Enemy shelling hit the private sector in the Kyivskyi city district, and a rocket that didn't explode was found on one of the streets. At least one victim is reported. The SES regional department said.

Residents of Balaklia, who have been under temporary russian occupation for three months, are asking for publicity on the situation in the city. On June 5, the occupying forces declared the city "part of the Belgorod Oblast." The town has been closed for entry and exit to the territory controlled by Ukraine since May 8; the occupiers prohibit the import of food and medicine. People are disappearing in the city, there are problems with water and electricity supply, and there is almost no mobile service. The Balaklia residents, who have become hostages of the occupiers, are looking for ways to earn at least some money to survive. And they're afraid that because of this, they may be considered collaborators. But the russians leave them no choice.

Sumy region

On the night of June 7, the russian enemy fired on Seredyna-Buda. The shelling began at about 5 am; 7 mortar shots were followed by artillery fire. At least six houses, a farm building, and a garage are struck, and fires are raging. The power line was also damaged. Previously, there were no casualties among the local population.

Poltava region

In the Poltava region, the gunner and driver of the russian Grad MRLS, who shelled Kharkiv, was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison. On February 24, they fired the first rocket from the russian village of Malinovka, Belgorod Oblast, in the direction of the Kharkiv region. The defendants then reloaded the Grad, crossed the border with Ukraine, and fired in the direction of Kharkiv. The defendants pleaded guilty in court and were punished for violating the laws and customs of war.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The Kryvyi Rih district is under fire again. At night, the enemy struck the Zelenodolsk community from the Uragan MRLS. A 46-year-old man was injured in Velyka Kostroma and is currently in hospital. Houses in the village are damaged.

Zaporizhzhia region

The occupiers left almost all the checkpoints in the Melitopol district, fearing an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mayor Ivan Fedorov said. "They moved even Vasylivka's territory to Zelenyi Hai, fearing our military's arrival. In the coming weeks and months, Melitopol will be de-occupied," said the mayor.

However, according to ruscist media, the occupiers will open centers for issuing russian passports in Berdiansk, Enerhodar, and other cities in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Kherson region

The Center for National Resistance reports that residents of the temporarily occupied Kherson region are sabotaging the registration of russian citizenship. Currently, no people are willing to obtain russian citizenship in the Kherson region. Agitation and bribery don't help the occupiers. Kherson residents are offered 10,000 rubles for citizenship and support for the referendum, but the local population is reluctant to engage in such provocations.

Meanwhile, collaborator Stremousov continues to pedal the referendum topic. "We will hold a referendum in the Kherson region on the region's joining the russian federation," he repeated. Although on Saturday, June 4, Stremousov said that holding a referendum was not on the agenda.

Mykolaiv region

As a result of the night attack of Bashtanka in the Mykolaiv region, two people died, and two more were wounded, the head of a regional council, Zamazeieva, reported.

West of Ukraine

Ukrainians are incredible! Yesterday, June 6, in Sambor, the newlyweds transferred 100,000 hryvnias to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The couple gave up loud parties because of the war and celebrated their wedding in a close family circle. The newlyweds gave away the money received as a gift to help the Ukrainian military. The Lviv Regional State Administration reported on Facebook.
