Ukrainian strongman Novikov breaks world record with 550 kg lift

Oleksii Novikov, the 2020 "World's Strongest Man" titleholder from Ukraine, has set a new world record by lifting 550 kilograms in an 18-inch deadlift.

The World Cup took place in Barcelona, Spain, where Ukrainian athlete Oleksii Novikov's accomplishments were officially recorded during the stage competitions. Novikov emerged victorious in the tournament.

"Thank you to everyone who helped and cheered me on. It was amazing, and I was thrilled to share these emotions with all of you. I appreciate the congratulations—it's heartwarming. To everyone who believed in and supported me, thank you. Congratulations to all Ukrainians on another record for our country. And to my loved ones, this past year was tough, but you stood by me, and this victory is ours," Novikov wrote.

In 2022, Ukrainian strongman Oleksii Novikov clinched the Strongman Classic title for the second consecutive year. Competing in London, Novikov scored 54 points, finishing 12 points ahead of his nearest competitor, Canadian Mitchell Hooper.

In 2020, he won the title of "The Strongest Man in the World". Last year, he also won the Strongman Classic tournament. On April 3, Oleksii Novikov won the title of the strongest man in Europe.
