How does it work?
More than 50 countries participated in the meeting to coordinate military support for Ukraine. The Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting was held in Brussels for the first time under the chairmanship of Great Britain.
"We are approaching the sad milestone of three years of full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine. For three years now, Ukrainians have not been tired of fighting for their future and our freedom and security.
The Netherlands has pledged more than 10 billion euros in military assistance, of which about 6 billion have already been provided.
Especially now, when Ukrainians are having a hard time on the battlefield, we must continue to provide them with unwavering support. Peace against Russia is only possible through military force," Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said.
The minister also reported that the Netherlands, in cooperation with the Czech Republic and the United States, has already transferred the last promised T-72 battle tanks to Ukraine.
Ukraine also recently received a new batch of Dutch F-16 fighters, previously promised to Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense does not report the exact number of fighters transferred.
The Netherlands will also help train 26 Ukrainian technicians to maintain the F-16.
For reference:
As Rubryka wrote, the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (in the Ramstein format) was held in Brussels on February 12. The Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom, John Healey, headed it, and the new US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, also participated.
Healey was chairing the Ramstein format meeting in Brussels for the first time. During the opening of the meeting, he stated that the main task of this format is to provide a force component for achieving peace in Ukraine.
On February 12, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth arrived at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance. He made a statement on the role of NATO.
Within the framework of Ramstein, the United Kingdom is allocating a new package of defense assistance to Ukraine. This will include tanks, artillery, missiles, other weapons, and contracts to maintain previously delivered equipment.
Norway has also allocated a new package of financial assistance to Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase additional air defense equipment.
Following the Ramstein in Brussels, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umierov said the meeting was productive, compelling aid packages were received, and this format will continue.
