The Ukrainian company "SICH Ukraine" has begun supplying Sich-AAJT-S abdominal tourniquets, designed to effectively aid in cases of gunshot wounds to the abdomen and other critical injuries.

The "SICH Ukraine" company reported that.

What is the solution?

The AAJT-S abdominal tourniquet (Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet-Stabilized) is a cutting-edge medical device aimed at stopping life-threatening bleeding in areas where traditional tourniquets fall short.

How does it work?

According to the developers, it effectively stops bleeding in the upper torso and is also effective for controlling bleeding in the lower torso, including the groin area.

Mechanism of Action:

The tourniquet is applied to the abdominal area, where an inflatable element creates localized pressure. This pressure compresses blood vessels to stop bleeding. It's designed for use in emergency situations where quick control of internal bleeding is crucial.

Additional functions:

  • Used to stabilize the pelvis in case of suspected fracture, which minimizes the risk of complications associated with injuries to vessels and organs.
  • Equipped with a stabilization system for long-term and safe use.

"The use of AAJT-S requires skills and precise adherence to protocols, since excessive pressure or improper application can cause complications," the manufacturer emphasized.

For reference:

It's important to note that volunteers are once again raising concerns about the provision of low-quality tourniquets to the military. To highlight this issue, an exhibition showcasing faulty tourniquets has been opened in Kyiv to draw attention to the problems with substandard medical equipment.

Additionally, volunteers and the tourniquet manufacturer launched a project that allows people from around the world to purchase tourniquets for military use on the front lines.
