Russian ballistic missile strikes Kryvyi Rih, damaging houses and educational institution, causing fatalities and casualties
On Friday, January 17, the Russian army struck the city of Kryvyi Rih. As a result of the enemy attack, houses and an educational institution were damaged, and there were casualties and injuries.
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, reported that on Telegram.
An air alert was declared in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as in other eastern and southern regions, at 12:11 p.m. The Air Force of Ukraine's armed forces warned of the threat of ballistic missiles from the south.
Later, the military reported high-speed targets heading towards Kryvyi Rih, followed by a series of explosions in the city.
"In Kryvyi Rih, an educational institution and residential buildings were damaged as a result of the Russian attack," he noted.
Lysak emphasized that as of 12:45 p.m., the airstrike in the Dnipropetrovsk region was still ongoing and urged everyone to stay in safe places.
According to preliminary data, three people died as a result of the attack in Kryvyi Rih.
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration notes that there are also wounded.
According to the head of the city's Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, three people were wounded and are receiving assistance.
As of 1:30 p.m., the number of dead had increased to four. According to the regional military administration, these are:
- three women,
- and a man.
Vilkul specified that civilians who were in the courtyard of a five-story building died.
The number of injured has increased to five people. Three are hospitalized in serious condition. Two more were provided with assistance on the spot. Among the victims are a 22-year-old woman and men aged 34 and 56.
A day of mourning has been declared in Kryvyi Rih on January 20.

Four more apartment buildings, nine shops, three restaurants, and more than two dozen cars were also damaged.
