Russian Shahed drone attacks injure a child in Kyiv region, hit port infrastructure in Odesa region

On Thursday evening, January 16, the Russian invaders launched several groups of strike drones over Ukraine for another air attack.
At 10:45 p.m., air defense systems were activated after an enemy UAV was detected in the Kyiv region.
Mykola Kalashnyk reported that a boy born in 2012 was injured, suffering from a suspected concussion and a cut on his thigh.
"He has been hospitalized. The child is being provided with all necessary medical care," the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration said.
A fire in a cafe shop and an attached boiler room covered almost 200 square meters.
"The fire has already been localized. The blast wave damaged the glazing of a neighboring house," the official said in a statement on his Telegram channel.
As a result of falling debris:
- a private house sustained damage;
- a car was damaged;
- a fire broke out in a two-story building housing public catering establishments.
Odesa region
Russian invaders also struck the Izmail district of the Odesa region this night, January 17, during an air attack using drones.
The target of the attack was the local port infrastructure.
According to the official, intense work was continued in the region by air defense forces and means to repel the enemy attack.
The head of the regional military administration mentioned on his Telegram channel that there were no casualties or injuries following the enemy drone strike in the Izmail district.
"As a result of the shelling, there was damage to the facades of buildings and a residential building," he said.
The official also said "all relevant services" are working at the scene.
"Law enforcement officers are recording the consequences of another terrorist act by Russians against the civilian population of the Odesa region," the head of the administration said.
Khmelnytskyi region
Explosions rang out in the Khmelnytskyi region during the air alert on the night of Friday, January 17, due to an attack by Russian drones.

On the night of January 16, the Russians launched 55 drones from four directions over Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed 34 drones, and another 18 were lost in location. Air defense was operating in 11 regions of Ukraine.
