Russians spread false reports of breakthrough in Ukraine's Sumy region to destabilize country
Russians are continually spreading rumors about an alleged breach of the Ukrainian border in the Sumy region. However, the Defense Forces are maintaining their positions and are prepared for any possible attempts by enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups to infiltrate.
The head of the press service of the 15th mobile border detachment, "Steel Border," Ivan Shevtsov, stated this on the air of a telethon.
According to him, Russian propaganda talks about the alleged breach of the border in the Sumy region to scare Ukrainians – but there was no breakthrough.
He noted that such information is spread at least once a week.
The invaders are creating fake messages to destabilize the situation inside the country, but no such case has been confirmed; there is not even a single preparation for a breakthrough on the state border.
Due to favorable natural and weather conditions, there's still a chance of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempting to enter. However, the border guards remain fully prepared to confront the occupiers.
"If we talk about the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, then there is such a terrain that there is a vast number of swamps and a large number of forests, which prevents the troops from breaking into the territory of Ukraine.
But this allows the sabotage and reconnaissance groups to work, which is why the border guards create fortifications and mine the terrain to prevent enemy groups from entering the rear of our state," Shevtsov said.
He also noted:
"Usually, the sabotage and reconnaissance groups prepare for specific weather conditions, for example, heavy rain, fog, or heavy snow.
This is when reconnaissance drones cannot fly when visibility is poor, and this is the best time for reconnaissance work."
For reference:
It is worth mentioning that the State Border Service of Ukraine recently reported that the Russian occupiers are trying to expand their zone of influence in the Kharkiv region. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups continue to attempt to enter, but their activity has recently decreased.
Before that, it was reported that the military destroyed Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in northern Ukraine. Ukraine's armed forces clashed with the Russians almost hand-to-hand.
It should be noted that the operational situation in the Sumy region remains challenging due to intensive shelling and the constant threat of sabotage by Russian troops. Border areas of the region continue to be subjected to enemy attacks, including artillery shelling and drone strikes.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration reports that the situation in the region is under control despite Russian propagandists' statements.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue active operations in border areas, particularly in the Kursk region of Russia. The operation aimed to:
- weaken the enemy's logistical capabilities,
- destroy military infrastructure facilities,
- and force Russia to transfer its resources from the front to the defense of its own territories.
It is also worth recalling that since the beginning of the summer, Russia has intensified its shelling of the territory of the Sumy region. Because of this, it was decided to carry out a forced evacuation of residents in several settlements.
