Lee Seong-gwon, a South Korean lawmaker, stated that approximately 100 soldiers from North Korea have lost their lives, and an estimated 1,000 have been injured in intense clashes with Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.

Reuters reported that.

According to a South Korean official, the main reason for such losses is the North Korean troops' lack of experience with drones and their unfamiliarity with the open terrain where the fighting is taking place.

"At least 100 people are reported dead, and the number of wounded is approaching 1,000," he said.

According to intelligence, North Korea is preparing for further troop deployment. In total, more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers have already been sent to help Russia in the war, according to US and South Korean officials.

In addition, Pyongyang transferred to the Russian Federation more than 10,000 containers of ammunition, including artillery shells, anti-tank missiles, mechanized howitzers, and rocket launchers. However, neither North Korea nor Russia officially confirms the fact of the participation of the North Korean military in hostilities or the supply of weapons.

Official representatives of the United States and Ukraine have repeatedly pointed to the significant losses of the North Korean military and the role of Russia in attracting foreign forces for the offensive.

For reference:

Let us recall that the Ukrainian defenders continue active combat operations in the Kursk direction, having distinguished themselves with successful operations to neutralize the enemy. On one of the front lines, they managed to eliminate more than two dozen occupiers. On December 15, the Ukrainian military published photos of North Korean soldiers killed in the Kursk region.

In addition, the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine's armed forces demonstrated their combat prowess by successfully eliminating North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. The operation lasted for three days and resulted in the deaths of 50 DPRK soldiers who were fighting alongside Russia.

In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine intercepted a conversation between the Russian invaders, from which it became known that at least 200 North Korean soldiers were wounded in battles in the Kursk region.

It is worth adding that experts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have drawn attention to evidence of the use of North Korean soldiers by Russian forces in offensive operations against Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region. They indicate that such tactics can lead to significant depletion of North Korean units and affect their ability to adapt to combat conditions.

According to available information, a North Korean military contingent of up to 12,000 people is undergoing training at five training grounds of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces. This contingent includes at least 500 officers from North Korea, including three generals from the General Staff.
