According to the Russian Defense Ministry, approximately 50 drones launched an attack on Russian territory overnight on November 29. Multiple explosions could be heard in the vicinity of Tuapse, a city located in the Krasnodar Territory. Additionally, a fire broke out at the Atlas oil depot near the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in the Rostov region.

The acting governor of the Rostov region, Yuriy Slyusar, Russian media, the Russian edition of Astra, and the Russian Defense Ministry reported that.

Around 2 a.m. this morning, reports of explosions in Tuapse, situated along the Black Sea coast in the western part of the Krasnodar Territory between Novorossiysk in the north and Sochi in the south, started circulating on the internet.

In Tuapse, people are complaining about a string of explosions caused by a drone attack.

Later, public forums reported that the air defense forces and equipment were still active in the area due to a "massive attack" carried out by drones.

According to messages from locals on the Internet, explosions were heard in different parts of Tuapse, including "very loud" ones near the beach.

Meanwhile, a photo was shared showing smoke above the sea, purportedly coming from the port area, captured by a Tuapse beach webcam.

The governor of the Krasnodar Territory did not report anything about the situation in the Tuapse region.

At the same time, both local public forums and Russian media reported that air defense successfully destroyed around 20 drones.

It's worth mentioning that the network also stated that the Tuapse oil refinery could potentially have been the target of the UAV attack in this city.

Also, on this night, November 29, explosions also occurred in the Rostov region due to a drone attack, and a fire broke out at the Atlas oil depot near the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky.

Rostov region governor Yuriy Slyusar reports on the alleged shooting down and neutralization of thirty drones by electronic warfare during the repelling of a "massive air attack."

At the same time, a representative of the Rostov region authorities declares the presence of "consequences on the ground."

He said that the roof of a private house in Masalovka farm, located in the Kamenskiy district, was damaged, and no one was injured.

"In the settlement of Dyachkino, Tarasovskiy district, the glazing of a residential building was damaged due to falling debris on a private farm," he said, adding that there were no casualties there either.

However, the acting governor didn't mention the oil depot fire, though many videos of it circulated on local public forums and Russian media.

According to Russian media, a large fire is burning at the Atlas oil depot near the city of Kamensk, which is clearly visible to drivers on the M4 highway.

For reference:

FDKU Atlas Refinery of the Department of the Federal Agency for State Reserves in the Southern Federal District specializes in supplying petroleum products to the Russian Armed Forces.

As reported by Russian media, the Russian Ministry of Defense and reserve forces conducted joint exercises in August 2020 at a refinery base as part of the Caucasus-2020 exercises. The demonstration exercises focused on delivering petroleum products for the military, utilizing three methods: automobiles, railways, and pipelines.

The Russian department reports that their air defense allegedly destroyed 47 drones.

In particular, the report states that:

  • 29 UAVs were allegedly destroyed over the territory of the Rostov region,
  • eight over the territory of the Krasnodar region,
  • three each over the territories of the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Voronezh regions,
  • one over the occupied Crimea.

It should be noted that the Atlas oil depot was hit by a drone strike on August 28. Then, a large-scale fire and severe damage to fuel tanks were recorded as a result of the attack.

Additionally, explosions have occurred in Tuapse before. For instance, on July 22, an operation by the Ukrainian Defense Forces resulted in an attack on a local oil refinery, causing a fire.
