New US Special Representative for Ukraine pledges to secure "peace through strength" in inaugural statement
The United States Special Representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, made his first statement after his appointment. He is ready to ensure "peace through force."
RBC-Ukraine writes about this with reference to his message on Twitter (Х).
"I am honored by Donald Trump's appointment to serve as Assistant to the President and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia.
It was the privilege of my life working for President Trump," his message reads.
According to Kellogg:
"I look forward to working tirelessly to secure peace through strength while upholding America's interests. I am ready with the commitment and dedication it deserves," the former military man stated.
It should be noted that on November 27, President-elect Donald Trump selected retired General Keith Kellogg as his assistant and special representative for Ukraine and Russia.
"Keith has had an outstanding career in the military and business spheres, including working in very important positions in the field of national security in my first administration. He has been with me from the very beginning! Together, we will ensure peace through strength and make America and the world safe again," Trump said on the Truth Social network.
Kellogg held high positions in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2021. He was, in particular, the head of the National Security Council and the national security advisor to Vice President Mike Pence.
According to media reports, Kellogg has proposed his plan to end the war in Ukraine. This plan stipulates that American weapons will be delivered to Ukraine only if Ukraine agrees to peace talks with Russia. At the same time, the United States is ready to warn Moscow about the consequences of refusing to negotiate, including increased support for Kyiv.
For reference:
Earlier, Rubryka reported that newly elected US President Donald Trump may "soon" appoint a peace envoy to lead negotiations to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Reuters previously stated that Kellogg was considered a special envoy for Ukraine. It was reported that Kellogg had presented Trump with a plan to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In June, Reuters wrote that Kellogg's plan involves freezing hostilities along the current front line.
It should be noted that Trump has been considering several proposals to end the war between Russia and Ukraine recently, including a proposal from General Keith Kellogg, whom Trump announced as his candidate for the special envoy position to these countries.
According to Ukrainian Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky, the resolution of the war in Ukraine largely relies on Vladimir Putin. However, the United States holds even more significant influence due to its economic and military strength, making the Russian leader appear weaker.
