Newly-opened Ukraine's Honorary Consulate in Spaing generates almost €200,000 to support Ukrainian children

The Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands was officially inaugurated in the Spanish city of Palma de Mallorca. As part of the event, a charity auction was conducted to raise funds for Ukrainian children affected by Russia's armed aggression. A total of 8.4 million hryvnias (equivalent to almost 200,000 euros) were donated towards their support.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Spain reported that.

State and cultural figures, representatives of local authorities, businesses, and the Ukrainian community attended the event.

Volodymyr Nosov was named the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands. He stated that the newly established institution would address the needs of Ukrainian citizens and promote economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Ukraine and Spain.

"The opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands is a vivid testimony to the dynamic development of Ukrainian-Spanish relations. This important step opens up new opportunities for deepening cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres and for expanding regional ties between our countries," the Ambassador of Ukraine to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, said.

"The Honorary Consulate of Ukraine will become a bridge for interaction between Ukraine and Spain in business, trade, technology, and exchange of experience. We will actively work in the cultural sphere and support social and humanitarian initiatives aimed at helping Ukraine, paying special attention to children and youth. We aim to create favorable conditions for Ukrainian businesses seeking to enter the Spanish market and grow here. At the same time, we are ready to support Spanish companies that wish to develop business in Ukraine," Volodymyr Nosov emphasized.

At the charity auction held as part of the opening, 8.4 million hryvnias were raised to support Ukrainian children. Half of these funds, 4.3 million hryvnias, were donated by the WhiteBIT company. The winning lots were touching paintings by Kharkiv artist Olena Borysova, which tell war stories through the prism of children's emotions.
