United to win: British farmers support Ukraine’s defenders through Pickups for Peace initiative
Since the start of the war, the Pickups for Peace initiative, launched by British farmer Mark Laird, has delivered 500 off-road vehicles to the front lines. The latest shipment included 26 more pickups to support Ukrainian defenders.
Rubryka reports this, citing a Facebook post by Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
"British farmers have provided 26 additional off-road vehicles for our defenders at the front. In total, this brings the number to 500 pickups since the beginning of the full-scale invasion," Kozytskyi stated.
He emphasized that this achievement was made possible through the efforts of the Pickups for Peace initiative.
"Mark is a sincere friend of Ukraine. He has been supporting the Armed Forces since 2014," emphasized the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
In recognition of his long-standing support, Mark Laird received an award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. The distinction honors his significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
According to Kozytskyi, the vehicles were delivered to:
- The 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo,
- The 150th Separate Mechanized Brigade,
- The 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Colonel-General Mark Bezruchko,
- Units of the National Guard of Ukraine, and other formations.
The SUVs were also loaded with humanitarian aid to support the needs of the military.
Additionally, the Lviv region has signed a cooperation agreement with Norfolk County in the United Kingdom. The partnership focuses on areas such as the economy, education, energy, and healthcare.
Plans are also underway to establish twinning relationships with regions in Scotland.
It's worth noting that British volunteers, led by farmer Mark Laird, have been consistently supporting Ukraine. Recently, as part of the Pickups for Peace initiative, they donated 38 SUVs to aid the Ukrainian military.
