Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the European Commission has agreed to allocate €4.1 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility.

Rubryka reports this with reference to Shmyhal's Telegram post.

Shmyhal explained that the European Commission positively assessed Ukraine's reforms, noting that the government met the required indicators for this tranche.

"We anticipate a swift decision by the EU Council. With this, total support under the Ukraine Facility for this year will reach €16.1 billion," he emphasized.

Shmyhal also expressed gratitude to the EU for its unwavering support, adding, "Despite the full-scale war with Russia, we continue to pursue reforms and transformation to move closer to Europe and achieve full EU membership."

As a reminder, in August, Ukraine received a €4.2 billion tranche from the European Union as part of the €50 billion Ukraine Facility program.

What is known about the approval of €50 billion in aid for Ukraine

On February 1, 2024, the European Council meeting saw all 27 EU leaders reach a consensus to include the Ukrainian Fund in the EU's 2024-2027 multi-year budget, allocating €50 billion. Previously, Hungary had blocked this decision.

The European Parliament subsequently approved regulations for the Ukraine Facility program in February 2024, establishing the €50 billion support framework for 2024-2027.

In April, the European Commission endorsed Ukraine's proposed reforms under the Ukraine Facility mechanism, setting the conditions for the release of €50 billion in macro-financial assistance over this period.

Then, on July 17, the European Commission approved a tranche of €4.2 billion for Ukraine within this program. Following this decision by the EU Council, Ukraine's total financing under the program has reached €12 billion.
