On the morning of November 13, Russian forces launched a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv, marking the first such assault in 73 days.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported this, citing Serhii Popko, head of the KCMA. The attack lasted over two hours. Initially, drones were launched from the east, while cruise missiles were already heading towards the Kyiv region. Later, ballistic missiles were added to the assault.

"The air alert was issued in the capital at 7:30 AM due to the threat of UAVs from the east. At that time, cruise missiles were already on their way to the Kyiv region. When the missiles reached Kyiv, the enemy simultaneously launched a ballistic strike on the capital," the military administration stated.

The attack was followed by more drone strikes, and local Telegram channels shared videos of Russian drones flying over the city.

According to Popko, the occupiers likely used the following types of weapons in the attack:

  • Air-based cruise missiles
  • Ballistic missiles, including KN-23, KN-24, and Iskander-M
  • Drones of the Shahed, Geran, Gerbera, and Parody types

Air defenses successfully destroyed several cruise and ballistic missiles, along with up to ten drones during the attack.

"As a result of the anti-aircraft engagement, the Defense Forces destroyed several cruise missiles, several ballistic missiles, and up to a dozen enemy drones. The exact number and type of weapons used will be detailed in the Air Force's reports," the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) noted.

According to Popko, there were no reports of destruction or casualties within Kyiv itself. However, a 48-year-old man in the Kyiv region was injured by falling fragments from downed Russian targets.

The State Emergency Service also reported one victim from the attack.

"One person was injured as a result of the morning missile strike in the Kyiv region. A building was destroyed, and a fire broke out in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region. The injured individual received assistance from emergency medical workers," they stated.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze.

The injured person refused hospitalization, according to the KCMA. A warehouse also caught fire where debris had fallen, but the fire has since been extinguished.

Amid the Russian attack, Ukrenergo announced temporary restrictions for business and industrial consumers, which will remain in effect until the evening. The restrictions were due to "a short-term decrease in the power of shunting generation and a significant reduction in electricity imports." There will be no restrictions for household consumers.

To recap, on the morning of November 13, explosions were heard in Kyiv following a Russian missile attack, with the capital's air defense in action.
