Unknown drones attack Russia's Dagestan, over 1,000 km away from Ukraine's border
The Russian government has announced that unknown drones launched an attack on the city of Kaspiysk, which is located in the Republic of Dagestan. Russia blamed Ukraine for the attack.
The head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, Astra, and Supernova+ reported that.
This morning, a video of a drone flying over Kaspiysk surfaced on social media. However, the drone appears to explode in the footage, possibly due to air defense interference.
As the official noted, one drone was shot down over the region. He also urged to remain calm and not post photos on social networks that "could help the enemy."

"Currently, the circumstances of what happened are being clarified. The operational headquarters is working, and I am in constant contact with the responsible authorities," he wrote.
However, social media revealed that the Russian air defense successfully took down at least one drone, while another likely landed in the port's territory.
Following the reported downing of the drone, Kaspiysk residents shared news of new explosions on social media.
Russian mass media also reported that the airfield in Makhachkala (the capital of Dagestan) was closed due to a drone attack.
It should be noted that Kaspiysk, situated on the shore of the Caspian Sea, is a satellite of Makhachkala and is close to the international airport. The city has a population of approximately 100,000 people.
Furthermore, Kaspiysk is home to the naval base of the Russian Caspian Flotilla, where the 414th Separate Marine Guard Battalion and the 46th Separate Coastal Missile Division of the Marines are stationed.
