Switzerland gave Ukraine equipment for rescuers, specifically 30 vehicles for removing debris and 30 fire pumps.

RBC-Ukraine reported this, citing the statement of Felix Baumann, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine, during the official equipment handover.

Switzerland provided Ukraine with a new batch of equipment. It is worth 5.6 million Swiss francs.

During the official handover of the equipment, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine, Felix Baumann, noted:

"Today, I am honored to continue cooperating with the State Emergency Service. We are handing over 30 water pumps for extinguishing fires and 30 vehicles that will be used to clear debris left after the shelling of civilian and residential infrastructure. These resources will greatly assist first responders in aiding those trapped under the rubble."

He reminded that in March, Switzerland signed a memorandum of partnership with the National Security Service, which includes:

  • transfer of cars and spare parts,
  • training and education for rescuers.

Another project is constructing a logistics hub for the technical service division of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kyiv region.

Switzerland supplied similar equipment in October 2022. Since the beginning of the war, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, in cooperation with the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sports of Switzerland, has transported almost 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The Swiss partners were also shown the transport of the State Emergency Service destroyed by Russian shelling.

For reference:

It should be noted that Switzerland adheres to the policy of neutrality; therefore, it does not supply weapons to Ukraine. Switzerland also prohibits third countries from transferring their weapons to warring parties.

Switzerland provides non-lethal humanitarian and financial aid to Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning that the Swiss government handed over the first of three GCS 200 specialized vehicles for mechanized demining to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Switzerland also allocates $68 million for digitization in Ukraine. The Ministry of Digital Transformation signed a memorandum with Switzerland for $68.1 million until 2028. The funds will be directed to digitalization in health care and education, restarting the State Statistics Service, etc.
