Solutions to win: Ministry of Digital Transformation unveils groundbreaking MARS bionic prosthesis control system
The Ministry of Digital Transformation showcased the testing procedure for the new MARS bionic prosthesis control system, which can potentially control drones in the future.
The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, reported that on Facebook.
What is the solution?
Mykhailo Fedorov published a corresponding video in which Brave1 participant Esper Bionics tests the technology.
"How the technology works is on video. The case when it's hard to tell the difference between magic and technology," he noted.

How does it work?
Fedorov noted that the new MARS prosthesis management system uses special sensors and artificial intelligence to recognize muscle movements.
Thanks to this, the prosthesis can literally understand the user's intentions.
According to Fedorov, this approach makes controlling the prosthesis more natural and, in the future, opens up new possibilities for controlling technologies, such as drones.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the user will be able to control the drone, change the position of the prosthesis in space, and strain various muscles.
The principle is similar to a computer mouse:
- hand movement controls the direction and angle of the drone,
- muscle tension – functions such as pressing buttons.
Esper Bionics is already testing a prototype and plans to produce a version for the market next year.
For reference:
The BRAVE1 coordination platform was created as a "single window" for the cooperation of defense tech companies, the state, the military, investors, volunteer funds, the media, and other participants.
It was noted that the activity of BRAVE1 will be focused on five areas. Among them:
- providing grants to developers prioritized for the needs of the security and defense forces,
- assistance in finding effective technological solutions among Ukrainian developers,
- unification of all industry stakeholders.
Also, the platform interacts with the defense forces by demonstrating the developments and receiving feedback on their use.
It is essential to mention that Brave1 began accepting applications for revised grants for defense technology developments in Ukraine in May. Developers can receive grants worth 500,000, 1 million, and 2 million hryvnias.
As reported, Ukrainian defense technologies have attracted more than $25 million in foreign investment thanks to the support of the Brave1 platform, increasing this figure several times compared to 2023.
