Russian forces attack Kyiv with drones, injuring nine, including a child
On the night of October 30, Russian troops launched another attack using drones in various regions of the country. In Kyiv, Ukrainian air defense was in operation, explosions rang out, and fires broke out due to the fall of UAV debris. Unfortunately, there have been casualties reported, including a child.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko, the city head, Vitalii Klychko, and the State Emergency Service reported that.
According to the leader of the military administration, the air raid alert in the capital lasted over 2 hours. Meanwhile, Russian drones were approaching Kyiv from various directions and altitudes, but Ukrainian air defense forces were able to spot and stop them in time.
"There was an explosion in the Solomianskyi district of the capital. All services are heading to the scene. In the same district, there was a fire due to the fall of the fragments of a drone," Klychko later said.
The Kyiv mayor later clarified that the fire affected non-residential spaces in the Solomianskyi district and an apartment in a residential complex.
Tonight, the rescue team saved a cat from a Kyiv home hit by a Russian drone.
"The cat's apartment was almost completely burned down, but luckily, the emergency services were able to resuscitate it and return it to its owner. Thankfully, the cat's life is not in danger now," they said.
"There's a fire at non-residential buildings in the Solomianskyi district and another at a different address in the same area. Multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be seen flying over the city. The air defense forces are currently on duty," Popko stressed.
In his turn, Popko also reported on the fall of debris in the Solomianskyi district.
"Here, a fire broke out in several apartments in a multi-story residential building. Eighteen people were evacuated from the building. Nine people were injured, including one child," the head of the Kyiv City State Administration emphasized.
The medics immediately provided them with assistance on the spot.
"Right now, there are nine people who were affected by the drone crash in the residential area of Solomianskyi district. One of the victims is an 11-year-old girl. Medical personnel promptly gave assistance to all of them on the scene," Klychko confirmed.
The State Emergency Service reported that a fire broke out on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the 9th floor as a result of the UAV attack. The fire was extinguished in an area of 40 square meters.
Furthermore, as reported by Popko, a fire occurred in an eight-story administrative building at a different location within the same area. Fortunately, the fire was put out, and no injuries were reported.
For reference:
In total, during October, the Russians carried out 19 air attacks on Kyiv.
It should be pointed out that the Russian invaders launched another attack on October 29, using attack drones targeted at Kyiv. That same night, the air defense forces successfully neutralized all enemy kamikaze drones. However, the falling debris from the downed drones caused a fire in the Solomianskyi district, damaging a house and commercial buildings and resulting in six injuries.
