Ukrainian firefighter claims world record at 2024 World Firefighter Challenge Championship in US

In the United States, Ukrainian firefighter Oleksandr Baran set a world record at the World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024.

"Let's start the morning with good news! In the United States of America, a Ukrainian firefighter set a world record at the World Championship for rescuers!
At the World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024, a rescuer from the Ukrainian team, together with a colleague from Florida, amazed everyone by setting a world record!" the message reads.

Oleksandr Baran and Mackenzie Briggs ran together in the qualification race for the men's 40-44 tandem category, finishing at 1:09.91.
"This stunning result demonstrates our rescuers' high level of training, skill, and teamwork.
Congratulations to Oleksandr on this remarkable achievement! Stay tuned for further competitions because this is just the beginning!" the State Emergency Service press service stressed.

It should be noted that at the World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024, which is taking place in the USA, Ukrainian rescue athletes have already set two world records.
"On the first day of the competition, which began on October 21 in the United States of America (Nashville, Tennessee), a team of 9 extraordinary athletes impressed everyone. The Ukrainians set two new world records: the team record in the under-40 relay with a time of 1:07:70, and the women's record in the under-40 relay is 1:33:89," the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.
The World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024 will last until October 26.
Participants compete in three main disciplines:
- individual performances,
- tandem (two people),
- relay (from three to five people).
These competitions are meant to mimic actual firefighting situations. Participants scale a five-story tower, handle and move hoses, and save a life-sized 165-pound dummy while competing against one another.

The Firefighter Challenge is the largest sporting event for professional firefighters.
The championship includes competitions in 5 tests, which are attempted to be completed in the fastest time.
It should be noted that a rescuer from Odesa set three records at the 2024 Odessos Cup in Bulgaria, an international competition for firefighting and applied sports.
