Solutions to win: Ministry of Defense greenlights Ukrainian-made "Varan" buggy for challenging terrain operations
The Ministry of Defense has officially authorized using the "Varan" buggy, a Ukrainian off-road vehicle specifically engineered for navigating highly challenging terrain.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that.
The "Varan" buggy is designed for various tasks such as:
- as transporting personnel,
- evacuating the wounded,
- and carrying ammunition.
It was made and produced at a Ukrainian company and had a strong frame for challenging operating conditions.
The buggy is equipped with:
- powerful turbodiesel engine,
- automatic 5-speed gearbox.
Most of the nodes, aggregates, and mechanisms are parts of well-known global auto companies.
"Varan" was created by an experienced engineer with extensive experience in fixing and operating cars. The military specified the vehicle's requirements as fast, maneuverable, easy to maintain, low-profile, and highly capable off-road.
The two-person buggy weighs just over a ton and can carry 500 kg of cargo or pull a trailer weighing up to 300 kg. The fuel tank has enough capacity for 200 km of rugged off-roading.
"Varan" reaches over 100 km/h speeds on the sand and never overturns during testing.
For reference:
It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense has approved using a simulated individual kit intended to train military personnel in conditions as close as possible to combat.
As Rubryka wrote, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, two volunteers, Volodymyr Mussur and Roman Borynets from Broshniv-Osada, are creating a ground drone to evacuate wounded soldiers. The radio-controlled device will accelerate up to 20 km/h and can transport at least 150 kg.
It was also mentioned that the Lviv School of Computer Technologies and Construction developed the one-of-a-kind "HURKIT" all-wheel drive buggy, which has no equivalent.
