The United States of America has allocated 7.9 billion dollars in new military aid to Ukraine. Furthermore, Washington has implemented fresh sanctions against Russia.

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported that on Telegram.

"I am grateful to US President Joseph Biden, the US Congress, and both parties, Republicans and Democrats, as well as the entire American people for today's announcement of providing significant defense aid to Ukraine in the total amount of 7.9 billion US dollars and the introduction of sanctions against Russia," the president noted.

The head of state also expressed gratitude to the United States for finding a solution to distribute the remaining balance (approximately $5.9 billion) of previously allocated funds, ensuring that the president's term would not end before the conclusion of the US fiscal year.

According to Zelensky, the new military aid will include:

  • an additional Patriot air defense battery,
  • other means of air defense,
  • interceptors,
  • drones,
  • long-range missiles,
  • air-to-ground ammunition,
  • as well as funds for strengthening the defense and industrial base of Ukraine.

The US is also expanding its F-16 pilot training program and has imposed sanctions on Russia to limit its ability to fund war against Ukraine.

"We have always appreciated the strong bipartisan support in the United States and among Americans for Ukraine's just cause of defeating Russian aggression," Zelensky added.

For reference:

It should be noted that the White House announced the allocation of a new aid package of 375 million dollars for the Ukrainian army.

The package includes bombs, ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells, missiles, anti-tank systems, M1117 armored personnel carriers, and other equipment.

Earlier, the mass media reported that Ukraine will receive medium-range aerial bombs for F-16 fighters from the USA for the first time.

US President Joe Biden called on UN member states to tirelessly support Ukraine in helping it win the war and preserve its freedom.

The White House requested that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson include the funding extension in the permanent resolution because the funds are set to expire at the end of this month.

As previously reported, in April, US President Joe Biden signed a law that allowed more than $60 billion to be transferred to support Ukraine. As of the beginning of September, more than 6 billion dollars remained unused from the total package. The US administration must spend these 6 billion dollars on military aid to Ukraine by the end of the month or risk losing these funds.
