Rebuilding Ukraine: Denmark allocates €16 mln to restore Ukrainian energy sector
Denmark has decided to transfer 130 million Danish kroner (approximately 16.9 million euros or 19.5 million dollars) to Ukraine to restore its energy infrastructure after massive Russian attacks.
This is stated on the Ministry of Energy of Denmark website.
The Danish Minister of Climate, Energy, and Communal Services, Lars Aagaard, announced the aid in New York during a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha. The officials convened as part of the G7 working group on energy security for Ukraine.
The money will be used to implement emergency measures and purchase equipment and spare parts to restore the security of the energy supply.
"Russia is breaking the rules of war with its massive attacks on Ukraine's electricity and heating system. As winter approaches, many Ukrainian homes will be left without heat and electricity. In addition, ordinary workers in the energy sector, who are still doing their jobs, are becoming targets themselves. We must do everything possible to make the Ukrainian energy system as strong as possible," Aagard said.
For reference:
One thing worth mentioning is that Denmark's recent contribution to aid the Ukrainian energy system is one of the largest they have made.
The Danish assistance is being financed through the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs program. It will help implement emergency measures and purchase necessary equipment and spare parts to restore the security of supply, among other things.
