Solutions from Ukraine: Transplant Center launches nationwide online Donor Platform for vital blood donation information
The Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center has launched the online resource "Donor Platform," a nationwide platform containing essential and reliable information about donating blood and its components and official materials for current and potential donors in Ukraine.
The Donor Platform online source reported that.
What is the problem?
During the Russian aggression, there is a significant increase in the demand for donated blood. The enemy's widespread missile attacks often result in urgent situations where many blood components are required in one location.
What is the solution?
Donor blood is collected regularly in all regions of Ukraine to maintain the proper level of blood reserves.
The Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center launched the Donor Platform online source.
"So that the resources of donor blood are used efficiently and correctly. So that there are no sporadic, spontaneous donations when people are motivated by some event. People go to donate, but not every blood group is needed right now. The platform's purpose is to promote the most efficient and correct use of the centers' blood resources," Dmytro Koval, general director of the Ukrainian Center for Transplant Coordination, shared with the "Evening Kyiv" correspondent.
How does it work?
The platform will provide critical and dependable information on blood donation and its components, along with official resources for current and potential donors in Ukraine.
Additionally, the website features a one-of-a-kind section called the donor traffic light that gathers and regularly updates information on the supply of blood groups and Rh types in every region of the country. This allows every Ukrainian to efficiently and promptly check if their blood type is in demand and, accordingly, schedule a donation.
Stocks of blood and its components are a critically important part of the health care system so that everyone who needs medical assistance receives it in time and sufficient quantity.
Spreading the experience of long-standing honorary donors is also one of the tasks of the Donor Platform.
Koval believes that the emergence of the "Donor Platform" will help donate a habit of civilized, conscious citizens:
"Set a rule once a quarter — for three months, look at the information on the Donor platform and go to the blood center in your city and donate blood."

It should be noted that until September 20, blood donors in Poltava can receive a compensation of UAH 150 for their trip to the regional blood transfusion station via Uklon.
