Zelensky and Irish PM Harris sign bilateral agreement on cooperation and support
On September 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris signed an agreement on support and collaboration between their respective countries.
The Office of the President and the head of state reported that on Telegram.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ireland has steadfastly supported our state and provided Ukraine with aid in the amount of about 380 million euros. Today, together with the Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, we signed the Agreement on support for Ukraine and cooperation between our states," Zelensky said.
According to the Office of the President's press service, Ireland has committed to providing Ukraine with:
- 128 million euros for non-lethal military assistance,
- and at least 40 million euros for humanitarian aid this year.
Dublin will also offer demining systems and explosive ordnance disposal equipment and will remain an active member of the demining coalition.
Furthermore, the nation will also investigate other possible sources of assistance within Ukraine Defense Contact Group member alliances, such as the IT Coalition.
Furthermore, Ireland will offer continuous training for Ukraine's armed forces through the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM) based in Ukraine.
Some blocks of the agreement outline humanitarian aid, support for recovery, and the implementation of reforms, in particular, on Ukraine's path to EU membership.
They also mention that Ireland will play a role in bringing the Russian Federation to justice, providing reparation for damages caused by their aggression, and increasing pressure on Russia through sanctions.
It should be noted that Dublin has committed to continuing its diplomatic efforts towards implementing the "peace formula" and engaging in the work of various working groups to implement specific components of the formula. This includes the efforts of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
For reference:
On September 4, the Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, came to Kyiv to meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The agreement initially discussed between the two governments during Harris and Zelensky's meeting at Shannon Airport in July aligns with Ireland's neutral stance and specifies that all future aid provided to Ukraine will be non-lethal.
It is worth mentioning that Ireland has committed to helping the citizens of Mariupol, Donetsk region, evacuate and rebuild the city through the Mariupol Reborn project.
