Russian troops strike convoy of grain trucks in Sumy region, killing one and injuring four
On August 31, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Russian forces launched a missile attack on a convoy of grain trucks traveling along the Sumy-Kharkiv road near the village of Verkhnia Syrovatka in the Sumy district, using tactics that violate international law.
The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reports this.
Due to the Russian attack, a 23-year-old truck driver was killed, and four other drivers were injured. One truck caught fire, and about 20 others were damaged.

Under the procedural leadership of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement officers, document the consequences of the strike. The pre-trial investigation is conducted, in particular, by the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
