Ukrainian Varvara Rakhmanina wins gold at the European Aerial Gymnastics Championships
At the European Pole and Aerial Championships in Italy, 28-year-old aerialist Varvara Rakhmanina won a gold medal in the Amateur category of her age group.
This was reported by the World Federation of Pole Sports and Art (POSA).
The Ukrainian won by a large margin over her competitors, amateur athletes from Hungary.
During the award ceremony for the winners of the competition, which took place from July 3 to 7 in Italy, it was thanks to Varvara's victory that the Ukrainian national anthem was played.

In an interview with Hromadske Radio, Rakhmanina said that she started playing sports as an adult in May 2021. By that time, Varvara had managed to try herself in different styles of dance and liked to spend several hours a day roller skating.
Aerial acrobatics is a hobby that she has managed to turn into a sporting achievement for our country thanks to her hard work.
Varvara herself is a certified sociologist, holds a red diploma from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and works as a journalist at Suspilne.
In June, track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh was recognized as the best athlete in Ukraine, while swimmer Oleksandr Zheltiakov was named the best athlete.
The Austrian capital hosted a symbolic training session and a subsequent run with the indomitable Yana Stepanenko, a 13-year-old Ukrainian girl who lost both legs during the shelling of Kramatorsk by Russia two years ago.
