"Ukraine urgently needs adequate air defense systems" – Borrell

On May 8, Russian terrorists carried out yet another war crime. Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, condemned the massive attack by Russian forces and emphasized the urgent need for Ukraine to strengthen its air defense systems.

The head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, wrote that on X.

"Last night Russia launched another massive attack against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, adding to the long list of its war crimes. Ukraine urgently needs adequate air defense systems," Borrell said.

The head of EU diplomacy added that strengthening air defense will become a priority in the work of the Defense Committee, along with the launch of the Ukraine Aid Fund.

For reference:

During the night of May 7–8, Russian soldiers initiated a significant assault on several Ukrainian regions, utilizing kamikaze drones and a variety of missiles.
The invaders also launched a major assault on the capital and surrounding area, utilizing kamikaze drones and rockets. Fortunately, Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses successfully took down all enemy targets over Kyiv. However, two people were injured due to one strike in the region.

In turn, the Ministry of Energy announced that electricity generation and transmission facilities were attacked in six regions: Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia.

Because of a nighttime attack from the enemy on energy infrastructure facilities in 6 regions, there may be a need to restrict electricity usage during the evening.
