Hungary joins Ukraine's demining coalition
Hungary has joined the Coalition for Mine Action, which supports demining in Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense of Hungary, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, announced the news on Facebook, Rubryka reports.
"Hungary, at the ministerial level meeting in Brussels, has signed the Statement of Intent along with 20 other NATO member states to establish the Coalition for Mine Action," said the Hungarian defense minister.
He emphasized that the Hungarian Defense Forces would contribute to the Lithuania-led coalition's activities by conducting mine action training.
Rubryka reported that the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, Arvydas Anušauskas, presented the updated "demining coalition" concept in Vilnius.
The concept includes "humanitarian demining" of liberated occupied territories and "combat demining" on the front lines.
According to Anušauskas, this issue is a top priority for Lithuania in providing assistance to Ukraine for 2024-2026. Currently, 22 countries intend to join the demining coalition led by Lithuania.
