Russian Kh-101 missiles differ from their 2022 version – Ukraine's intelligence
Russia has modernized its Kh-101 cruise missiles, better customized than their 2022 models used to attack Ukraine's energy grid, says the intelligence spokesperson Vadym Skibitskyi.
He states that Russian troops are learning quickly and pick up the pace in modernizing technologies, scraping every detail from their allies.
The Kh-101 missiles were actively used to attack civilian infrastructure and are known for easy downing by Ukraine's air defenses.
"Now the weapons are equipped with an active electronic warfare system, active defense, heat traps, etc."
Yet, the intelligence member rejected the possibility of switching to a "blind defense."
"We have to develop everything: air defense, defense of the military-industrial complex, and its production, and we have to take counteroffensive measures to prevent the loss of territory. And the experience of 2023 showed us this."
Skibitskyi said emphasized that combat operations will continue despite the difficult weather conditions.
"We simply cannot allow our territory to be lost due to inaction."
On the morning of January 13, Russian forces launched another combined strike with missiles against Ukraine. The Air Force noted that missiles of the Kh-101/555/55 type were launched from six Tu-95MS.
Russia has increased the production of Kalibr and Kh-101 missiles by 3-4 times, and has improved the use of missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles, the intelligence says.
Parts made by American companies are used to manufacture Russian cruise missiles.
As of January 2024, Russia produces about 115-130 strategic missiles and 100-115 operational-tactical targets, yet the production has not increased in recent months.
