General Staff: Russia faces strong resistance, suffers losses in attempt to regain positions on left bank of Dnipro River
Ukrainian defenders inflicted significant losses on Russian occupiers on the left bank of the Kherson region.
The Ukrainian air force targeted five Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes, Rubryka reports, citing the evening report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian Army Attacks
During the day, there were 59 clashes. The Russian forces carried out five missile strikes and 21 aerial strikes, launching 38 rounds of attacks from multiple rocket launching systems (MRLS) at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties due to Russian terrorist attacks, with private houses and other civil infrastructure suffering damages and destruction.
Front-line Situation
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.
There's no significant change in the operational situation in the northwestern direction. There are no signs of offensive groups forming. Identified Belarusian armed forces units are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the northeastern direction, the Russian forces maintain a military presence in border areas, conduct sabotage-reconnaissance activities, shell populated areas from Russian territory, and increase the density of mine-explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border. A Russian aviation strike occurred in the suburbs of Varvarivka, Kharkiv region. Over 20 populated areas, including Arkhypivka, Bleshnia, and Horsk in the Chernihiv region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight Russian attacks in the areas of Synkivka and northeast of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region. The Russian troops launched an aerial strike near Sobolivka, Kharkiv region. Around ten populated areas, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman front, Ukrainian defense forces thwarted 11 Russian attacks in the areas of Serebrianske forestry, Luhansk region, and Vesele, Donetsk region, where the Russians, with aviation support, unsuccessfully attempted to breach Ukrainian troops' defense. Additionally, Russian aviation struck areas near Bilihorivka, Luhansk region, and Dibrova, Donetsk region. Over ten populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, and Serebrianka in the Luhansk region and Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, suffered from Russian artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Bakhmut front, the Ukrainian forces repelled three Russian attacks near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region. Approximately ten populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Niu York in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defenders repelled ten attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 13 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region. Approximately ten populated areas, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sverdne, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, experienced Russian artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Mariupol direction, Ukrainian forces continued to restrain the Russians in the areas of Novomykhailivka and Pobieda, Donetsk region, where they, with aviation support, made five unsuccessful attacks on Ukrainian positions. The Russian troops also struck the area near Oleksandropil, Donetsk region, with aerial attacks. Occupied towns under Russian artillery and mortar fire include Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian forces did not engage in offensive (assault) actions but shelled approximately ten populated areas, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, where the Russians unsuccessfully attempted to displace Ukrainian units from occupied positions. About 20 populated areas, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Piatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
In the area of responsibility of the Joint Forces Operation "Odesa" in the Kherson direction, Russian artillery shelling targeted Tiahynka, Mykilske, Sadove, Kherson, and Stanislav, Kherson region. The Russians also conducted an aerial strike in the area of Krynky, Kherson region.
Successes of the Ukrainian Military
Russian occupiers persist in their intention to push Ukrainian units out of the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Over the day, the Russians attempted 14 unsuccessful assault actions, facing strong resistance and suffering significant losses. Ukrainian units steadfastly maintain defense, retain the occupied positions, and inflict fire damage on the enemy.
During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 17 areas with concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as five anti-aircraft missile complexes. The air defense destroyed two Kh-59 guided aviation missiles and one reconnaissance UAV. Also, the tactical aviation of the Ukrainian Air Force successfully attacked a large landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the "Novocherkassk."
Rocket troops units hit the area with concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons, military equipment, a command post, an artillery system, and three other important targets.
