Humanitarian aid supplies to Avdiivka suspended due to Russian intensified attacks – authorities
As the situation on the frontline around eastern Avdiivka remains unease, humanitarian aid supplies to the city have been suspended, but the reserves will last for three months, says the head of the local administration Vitalii Barabash.
The supplies have previously included first aid kids, food, and gallons of water, however, it became hard to scrape through 22 kilometers to Avdiivka, being constantly shelled by Russian forces.
We have stopped delivering humanitarian aid to the city for now because the road is dangerous, the 22 kilometers to Avdiivka are constantly under fire. However, the city has accumulated reserves. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have been trying to maintain these reserves based on the number of people for about 2-2.5 months. As people are leaving the city little by little, the reserves we have in the city will be enough for about 3 months. This includes food, hygiene, and a certain amount of water.
Barabash said there are several locations with wells, supported by generators. If the situation continues as it has been for the past raging days, humanitarian aid will be brought in again in the near future unless there is a new wave of escalation.
The degree of tension near Avdiivka has decreased, but the enemy is still trying to attack, he notes. However, Barabash suggests that this is not the end of the Russian offensive.
Some regrouping is already taking place on their side, for three nights they have been pulling the damaged equipment deeper into the rear and trying to repair it. They are also bringing in new equipment. The enemy continues its attempts to surround the city, although the number of assault actions is small, but they are still doing it.
However, Ukrainian forces are prepared for any scenario.
The Russians have reserves, a lot of them, and we can see that. I am sure that they will learn from the mistakes they have made since the beginning of this escalation. It is certain that we are also preparing. We were ready.
Russian forces have significantly intensified their offensive near Avdiivka in recent days. Ukrainian troops say that Russians are trying to surround the city.
Previously, the artillery fire destroyed the bridge on the highway between the occupied Horlivka and Yasynuvata in the Donetsk region, important for logistics.
