Russian forces launch aggressive offensive on Lyman-Kupiansk front, unleashing 611 artillery and mortar strikes

The Russian occupiers began intensively advancing on the Lyman-Kupiansk front. Over the last day, the Russians carried out 611 artillery and mortar strikes.

The head of the Eastern Group of Forces press service, Captain Illia Yevlash, reported this during the telethon.

Yevlash noted that the enemy tried to advance 25 times on this part of the front but was stopped by Ukraine's armed forces.

"At the same time, 206 invaders were eliminated," he added.

The head of the press service of the Eastern group of troops also reported that 15 samples of enemy weapons and equipment were destroyed during the day. Including:

  • two T-72 tanks,
  • five armored fighting vehicles,
  • two D-20 guns,
  • self-propelled installation "Nona-S,"
  • mortar.

"Ammunition warehouses are also constantly damaged, and enemy UAVs are shot down," Yevlash noted.

As previously reported by Rubryka, the commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine's armed forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the military units that lead the defense in the area of responsibility of the "Lyman" operational-tactical group of troops.

According to Syrskyi, the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts situation has worsened significantly recently.

As the commander emphasized, after the losses inflicted on them, the Russian aggressors recovered in two months and began active offensive actions in the Makiivka area of the Luhansk region and later on the Kupiansk front. Heavy fighting continues there today.

For reference:

As Rubryka wrote, the Russian invaders kept about 100,000 troops on the Lyman and Kupiansk fronts, and the number of enemy attacks also increased significantly.

Even earlier, the Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukfraine's armed forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the Kupiansk and Lyman areas to think over a plan for further advancement and defense with the commanders of these directions.

In addition, the Russian occupiers have significantly intensified offensive actions near Avdiivka in recent days. Bakhmut and the Kupiansk-Lyman line also remain the epicenters of the fighting.

In turn, the ISW believes that the mass assaults of the occupiers on Avdiivka failed.
