Bridge vital for Russian logistics in occupied Donetsk region reduced to rubble after strike
A logistically important bridge on the road between the occupied cities of Horlivka and Yasynuvata used by Russian forces was destroyed following a strike.
Footage from the scene in the eastern Donetsk region has been published on social media and Telegram channels, "Novosti Donbassa" and "Typichny Donetsk."
Dmytro Shevchenko, the Russian-appointed mayor of Yasinuvata, said that the bridge was allegedly destroyed by the Ukrainian military, whose command has not yet commented on the situation.
The online footage shows that the highway bridge between Horlivka and Yasynuvata has been entirely ruined. Explosions and shelling can be heard in the video as well.
The Russian occupiers used this short route to quickly move from Horlivka to occupied Donetsk. Yasinuvata is also located near the Ukraine-controlled city of Avdiivka, where the Russian forces have recently intensified their attacks.
Russian offensive on Avdiivka
On Tuesday, October 10, Russian troops launched one of the most powerful assaults on Avdioivka during the war. They engaged three battalions with the support of armored vehicles, firing at the city and trying to break through the defense. Ukrainian soldiers contained the Russian attacks. The situation remains tense.
The city of Avdiivka is closely located north of Donetsk, which has been occupied by Russian forces since 2014 and has been defended for nine years. The front line in this area did not change even after the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022.
In recent days, the Russian forces intensified their offensive near Avdiivka. Bakhmut and the Kupiansk-Lyman axis remain the epicenters of the fighting.
The occupiers are also massively shelling Avdiivka and neighboring towns. The Ukrainian forces say that the Russians are trying to surround the city. Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders have repelled about 20 attacks near Avdiivka.
