Ukrainian forces capture commander of Russian volunteer battalion fighting near Bakhmut
The Ukrainian armed forces captured the commander of the Russian volunteer battalion "Alga" near Bakhmut.
Rubryka reports, citing the statement of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that Ukrainian soldiers "conducted a unique operation" to capture the Russian major.
"Now he is part of the exchange fund with the Russian senior officers," Ukrainian fighters stressed. The Alga commander can be used to bring back one of the Ukrainian senior officers in Russian captivity in another prisoner swap.
The Russian major also told the Ukrainian soldiers that the occupiers suffered significant losses on the Bakhmut front.
Earlier, Rubryka reported that Ukraine's Defense Intelligence often managed to convince the Russian military to cooperate. After the start of the full-scale invasion, the number of Russians contacting the Ukrainian special services grew significantly.
Andrii Yusov, the intel spokesperson, said the Russians could save their lives, ranks, and military honor. He noted that even the oath of a Russian serviceman did not include killing the civilian population and participating in an aggressive war. He said Russian soldiers did not need to die from the bullets of barricades, become marauders, murderers, or war criminals, following the orders of the Russian leadership. Instead, they could cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities.
