Ukrainian PM holds virtual meeting with US special representative for Ukraine's economic recovery
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held the first online conversation with Penny Pritzker, the US special representative for the economic recovery of Ukraine.
Shmyhal reported this on Telegram.
The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is interested in involving American businesses in restoring the state. He also informed about the vision of the country's recovery. He voiced the needs for each of the priorities of rapid recovery: energy, demining, housing reconstruction, critical infrastructure, and economy.
"I thanked USAID for joint business support programs that create new jobs. We are working with the World Bank on the need for post-war reconstruction. I emphasized that the aggressor has to pay for the damage caused. The key tool for this is confiscating frozen Russian assets for the recovery of Ukraine," the head of government said.
According to him, the development of logistics is among the essential elements of economic growth. Shmyhal and the US special representative discussed the expansion of corridors of solidarity and war risk insurance.
"We are moving forward in reforms on the way to the EU and NATO and in digitalization. I paid special attention to the veteran policy and the integration of the military into the country's socio-economic life," Shmyhal said.
The Prime Minister also thanked the United States for supporting the recovery of Ukraine.
